Ryanair announces Edinburgh as new hub

Glasgow’s Prestwick airport will no longer be the dominant base of Ryanair in Scotland following the announcement from the airline that it is opening 17 new routes to and from Edinburgh beginning this month.

The hugely popular budget airline has made Edinburgh its second home in Scotland and also its 27th major base in Europe by expanding its existing Shannon and Dublin services to include a further 17 routes!

In March, an Edinburgh service begins to Alicante in Spain’s sunny Costa Blanca.

In April, service begins to Bremen, Frankfurt, Marseille and Pisa. In June, service begins to Dusseldorf.

In September, the bulk of the new services take flight including Berlin, Billund, Bournemouth, Bratislava, Krakow, Lodz, Malaga, Palma, Poznan, Stockholm and Wroclaw.

Ryanair also proudly proclaims that, by creating a big presence in Edinburgh, they are sustaining 1200 jobs in the area and also attracting around £100 million annual revenue from tourism spending.
