Reaching Google page one with realistic keywords

Our members by the dozens have been climbing higher and higher up the search engine results pages! Well done all! If you are not one of these members, you might be wondering why. Perhaps you are not choosing the right keywords for your website.

In reality it is not difficult to register with search engines and actually anyone can be number one on the search engine results pages. For example, if you created a website dedicated to the types and colours of socks available for parrots and then someone searched for “yellow socks for parrots” your website would almost certainly be in the top spot, with hundreds of other websites below with a passing reference to parrots or socks.

How did you reach number one so easily? The reason is simple. There are no other websites about socks for parrots and no other website is interested in being on that list for that keyword phrase.

Reaching Google page one
The difficult task facing most of you today is to be number one for your chosen keywords on a search engine results page where thousands of other websites are competing to fill the top spots for the same keywords.

The challenge here is threefold: presenting your content as being the most relevant in the world for such a search keyword or phrase, constructing that content and titles to be easily understood by the search engine bots and having established links coming into your website from other web pages, therefore recommending your website as a useful source of information. Take a look into your CMA’s My Optimization section where you can read more about the details of overall optimization.

As an individual you have to be realistic. It is unlikely that you are going to appear on page one for hugely popular terms such as “apartment in Paris”, “villa in Costa del Sol” or “holiday in Florida”. These are generally taken by established, corporate websites who have put years and many thousands of Pounds, Euros and/or Dollars behind their position.

Choosing realistic keywords

So what you need to do is a little research in to the best search phrases for your property that realistically you will be able to compete and still attracts your target audience. The results speak for themselves.

As described in a previous blog article, Two Members reach Page One, Position One 13 times!, a member website, www.deniaholidayvilla.com, who has taken the My Optimization solution appears on page one of Google for the keywords “Denia holiday villa” ahead of more than 445,000 other websites. If this same website were competing for the keywords “Holiday villa Spain” it would be buried under tens of pages of search results.

The second website in the same article, www.morairabedandbreakfast.com, had the member’s SEO Consultant choose the keywords “B&B Moraira” enabling the website to appear prominently. However, if he had chosen “B&B Costa Blanca” he would be pages down and lost from his target audience.

Doing the research for you, choosing realistic keywords throughout your website, and teaching you how and where to use them is just part of the overall My Optimization package that is continually showing successful optimization results for members just like you.

I’m a bit dubious about paying for optimization when there’s so much free advice to glean online – but then again, the results my fellow members seem to be getting are pretty amazing.

Any members got any good or bad stories to tell – should I do the optimization package with IO?

Their is a ton of free advice & as much bad advice as good advice. You have to figure out who rocks as a SEO & who is a scam artist. Believe me their are a ton of them.

So it just depends if you want to spends hours a day keeping up or paying someone else to do it..

Some people have time others have money…

I agree with you ravetildon, I read so many for’s and against’s and conflicting information in various forums about SEO that it makes my head spin, in this instance I’d rather pay the £50 to iowners.

I’ve seen other companies charging alot more for similar so I am happy with this price – not sure what happens after the first year though, I’d want to keep my .com but might not want the report again – how much would that cost me?

I agree Sarah, what I have received from IO SEO so far seems good value and with that & several free classified ads I get my apartment near to the top, varying a bit according to my search phrase.
I also would like to know what we can expect for year two, or perhaps what would be the effect of not renewing.
