We all love a good airline sale and there are loads happening now.  Virgin Atlantic is offer excellent deals to the States and the Cheapflights.co.uk has a huge sale on.  Turkey is now more expensive than Spain for holidaymakers and JAL and Varsity are making noise in this month’s Flight News Monthly.

Turkey now more expensive than Spain!
Even though is outside of the Eurozone prices are soaring on tourist items.  Sources report that tourist goods like meals, drinks and more have been inflated up to 44%.  This rise in holiday prices have moved Turkey from spot 14 in cheap places to visit to spot 22 making it now more expensive to visit than Spain.

Spain is reported to be 30% cheaper now than it was one year ago for many tourism industry goods making it the cheapest place to visit within the Eurozone.  Still Hungary is the undisputed champion for cheap weekend breaks for the second year in a row.

Varsity Express opens with Oxford to Edinburgh
Junior airline Varsity is breaking into the market offering deals of £49 including tax and fees from Oxford to Edinburgh beginning in mid-March.

Huge JAL cuts
It was announced earlier this month that JAL, Asia’s largest airline is on a survival plan.  Tens of routes will be closed indefinitely and hundreds of staff will be shown the door in an effort to sustain the struggling airline long enough to recover.
